Uk tv series netflix london lockdown12/24/2023 ![]() ![]() But that doesn’t matter, because the sheer entertainment value of Who Dares Wins blows all accusations of partiality out of the water like Katie Price being thrown from a helicopter into a freezing Scottish loch (which, you guessed it, has actually happened in the series). ![]() KJįull disclosure: SAS: Who Dares Wins is headed up by professional hardman and friend of the magazine Ant Middleton, so here at GQ we’re a little biased. Our absolute favourite thing? The dishes are far more accessible, with fewer gels and foams and instead a ton of really good, simple food, which you'll desperately want to eat. And isn't that the soul balm we all need right now? Each series runs for a stonking 60-plus episodes, and British celebrity chefs regularly appear as guest judges, with alumni including Nigella Lawson and Yotam Ottolenghi making it a much starrier affair. We dare you to watch an episode and not come away smiling, fully invested in each of the competitors’ “food dream”. This might sound trite, but it's a far nicer, more upbeat atmosphere and, in all honesty, it’s utterly infectious. Where our Masterchef is serious, fearsomely competitive and, well, typically uptight, the Aussie version is rambunctious, relaxed and, above all, shows contestants that genuinely love and support one another. Dubbed “the grand dame of reality TV” down under, it’s occasion TV – prime watercooler fodder – and frankly it puts the British edition to shame. Masterchef is a very big deal in Australia. ![]()
